Richard Simon was born in Kansas City and began musical study early, but set aside music for a B.A. and Masters in English. He moved to L.A. in '77 as an English instructor at L.A. Community College. Richard also began studies in music at El Camino College and private lessons with Red Callender and others. He has become one of L.A.'s busiest bass players and now performs at festivals, concerts, nightclubs and recording sessions with a variety of renowned jazz artists including Page Cavanaugh, Rosemary Clooney, Terry Grimes, Plas Johnson, Buddy Collette, Al Viola, Gerald Wiggins and others. He is also a highly entertaining emcee and writer and has hosted numerous jazz events.
