David Sager was born in Takoma Park, MD, and played with bands in the D.C. area. He received his music degree at Towson State University in Baltimore. In 1983 David moved to New Orleans where he freelanced for two years before joining Banu's band in 1985. He has traveled and recorded extensively with the band. He played on the soundtrack of the movie Bix. He has lectured and published articles on early jazz and has a passion for pre-jazz and early vaudeville. Currently, Dave lives in Laurel, MD.
