JAY LEONHART - BASS
Jay Leonhart was born in Baltimore. In his teens, Jay and his brother, Bill
were TV stars in Baltimore and toured the U.S. with their banjos. At 14, he
switched to bass and studied at Peabody, Berklee and the Advanced School of
Contemporary Music in Toronto. He moved to NYC and played with small and big
bands and singers. Jay met and married singer Donna Zier. He played with Mel
Lewis, Tony Bennett, Marian McPartland and many of the great jazz musicians of
the day. Studio work in NYC put him with a wide variety of musical genre from
James Taylor to Ozzy Osbourne and Queen Latifah. Jay has been writing and
performing his original songs. He has recorded 15 solo albums and is performing
in his one-man "The Bass Lesson."
