Murray Wall - Bass

MURRAY WALL - BASS

Murray Wall was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1945. He became interested in playing bass when he heard Ray Brown play in a club in Melbourne. He was also greatly influenced by Oscar Pettiford. Murray moved to New York in 1978. In 1981, he joined the Jon Hendricks band and during the next five years toured with him in the US, Europe and Israel. He joined the Benny Goodman band in 1986. Since that time, Murray has worked with Joe Williams, Billy Eckstine, Anita O'Day, Mel Torme, Frank Wess, Warren Marsh and Richard Wyands. Currently, he is seen in the Buck Clayton American Swing Band, the Jimmy Ryan All Stars and with Warren Vache, Jr.
