Bob Haggart was born in Manhattan in 1914, but grew up on LI, attending Great Neck High School, where he started playing bass. In '35 he joined the Bob Crosby Band. For the next 7 years he was active arranging and writing for the band. He wrote three popular standards, "What's New?, " "South Rampart Street Parade" and "Big Noise from Winnetka." Bob has been co-leader of the World's Greatest Jazz Band for 20 years. He is an accomplished painter in oils and watercolors.

Bob died on December 2, 1998 in Venice, Florida.

a personal note

This year's Party had planned to honor the jazz giant, Bob Haggart on his 85th birthday. Now, the party will be dedicated to the memory of a truly great jazzman and gentleman, Bob Haggart. We will always remember him with much fondness.
